 | Lot #2144 RUSSIA 1923 100r imperforate sheetlet of 25, with error cliché 70r inserted, double impression, one shifted upwards, entire sheetlet handstamped "brakowano" (defective), n.h., some tears, otherwise fine, with Mandrowski cert. The imperf. sheetlet of the 70r/100r Red Army Soldier is considered the greatest rarity of the R.S.F.S.R. philately and only a few are known to exist. This error sheet, with double impression was obviously discovered in time and invalidated by applying the "Brakowano" handstamp. We have never seen or heard of another similar item and it could very well be the only one known (Standard 89I, catalogue value for a normal sheet $340,000)  SCatalog #232/33var | Unsold |
