 | Lot #1356 BRITISH COMMONWEALTH CANADA 1741 FL with extensive contents (written in Argot), from Quebec to Mr. Rauly in Montauban on the French/Spanish frontier. Remarkably, a Spanish ship visited Quebec and offloaded the cover at San Sebastian, where an excellent strike of the ornamental "S.S." in black was applied. With a Spanish endorsement (probably the only known, as the "Rauly" correspondence has been carefully examined after discovery in a warehouse in Montauban, most with the usual French entry postal markings of a later vintage and usually indistinct). This letter bears appropriate manuscript endorsements and is one of the earliest known Canadian covers with an entry marking, accompanied by a rough French translation of the letter  | Unsold |
