| Lot #2367 SIBERIA 1896 cover from Petropavlovsk (Kamchatka) to England, franked on reverse with 2x5k, tied by 19.XII.1896 "Poetropavlovsk Port Prim. Ob." pmks, with additional strike on front, envelope with "H.M.S. Daphne" imprint, Plymouth 8 July 98 (a voyage of almost 19 months) arrival pmk, fine. Kamchatka, a peninsula larger than Japan, took over one year to reach in the 19th century. Petropavlovsk, the capital was founded by Admiral Bering who named it after his ships (Peter & Paul)
