 | Lot #1007 ANTARCTICA German South Pole Exhibition (under Prof. von Drygalski). 1903 (Sep) registered cover sent from St. Helena to Capetown, violet "Gauss Deutsche Sudpolar Expedition" hs on reverse, few cover creases, otherwise v.f. and scarce.This expedition travelled in the specially built vessel "Gauss", which was frozen in ice for most of 1902 and finally broke out in Feb.1903, when it returned to South Africa; this is the only known mail from St. Helena.
