1919 Hawker, 3c red brown, unusually well centered and fresh, l.h., v.f., signed A.Diena, E.Diena, etc., with 1956 PFC. The stamp derives its name from the pilot, H.G. Hawker who attempted the first non-stop flightover the Atlantic. The plane was forced down about 1,000 miles to sea and the mailbag was salvaged. Of the 200 issued, it is believed that only 76 unused examples can exist, this copy being among the finest (SG 142)
