Russo-Turkish Wars
1854 outer FL from St. Petersburg to Bucharest, addressed "To The Danube Army Headquarters", with circular SPB July 6 datestamp and red wax seal, v.f. and scarce example of military mail during the so called "Undeclared War" with the Ottoman Empire (1853-4). In 1853 Russian troops entered the Principalities of Moldavia and Valakhia, a move that eventually led to the Crimean War. International pressure forced the Danube Army to evacuate the area in October of 1854
