1929 (June 10) flight from Croydon to Tokyo, cover addressed to Calcutta. Millionaire Van Lear Black's flight in his Fokker "Maryland Free State" from Croydon to Tokyo ended on 10 June 1929 when the plane was damaged whilelanding at Calcutta. The reverse of cover has "J.B. Scholke pilot P-AADZ 'Maryland Free State' Carried from Croydon to Calcutta June 10, 1929", filing fold away from the stamps, fine and rare cover
