| Lot #1518 RHODESIA 1899 registered cover headed "Mission Evangelique du Haut-Zambeze", with further "Barotsiland Mission Via Buluvayo South Africa", franked with 1/2p and 1sh Arms, both tied by Shesheke, N.W.Rhodesia cds, registered at Buluvayo and sent via Durban to Paris, v.f. The old kingdom of Barotseland in North West Rhodesia had about ten white residents as of 1890, with the first mail route opened in 1897 to Livingstone, with runner service only until 1904.
