RUSSIA Russia Used in Asia
1902 (9 Dec) registered legal-size cover (opened for display), franked on back with 8 each of 3k and 7k, sent from Kayagent station (Vladikavkaz-Baku rail line) to London, postmarked at "St. Kayagent", with red oval (29.12.02) London arrival datestamp. Postage was 80 kopecks (7x10k for weight and 10k for registration). This is the earliest known mail from Kayagent station, where postal operations began in October 1902. Sent to G. S. Howell, secretary of the board of directors of the Anglo-Russian Petroleum Co., which was drilling for oil near Kayagent
