RUSSIA
1884 (8 Jan) FL sent by the district police inspector in "Kondinsk" to the police administration in Tobolsk, with clear departure postmark on front and arrival Tobolsk 14 Jan 1884 on back. The Tobolsk police are asked to search for the "Jew Rozenshtrakh who was released to travel to his home in Kondinsk but failed to appear there." Annotations indicate that searches in several Tobolsk precincts were unsuccessful. This letter traveled by horse and probably reindeer on the frozen Ob and Irtysh Rivers (Tobolsk is a town in Tyumen Oblast, Russia, located at the confluence of the Tobol and Irtysh rivers. Founded in 1590, Tobolsk is the second-oldest Russian settlement east of the Ural Mountains in Asian Russia, and is a historic capital of the Siberia region)
