Welcome to our Summer auction to be held on August 6-7 2019 at our New York City galleries and on CherrystoneLive. There are 1,668 lots of rare Stamps and Postal History of the World, with properties of numerous vendors and estates sold by their order. We begin with United States, followed by Austria, Belgium, France and Colonies, Germany and Colonies, Italy, Liechtenstein, Poland, Russia, Spain, Switzerland and Scandinavian Countries. British Commonwealth is well represented with strength in Victoria and George V singles and sets. Also noteworthy is Colombia with a complete set of the 1920 Scadta vignettes unused and on individual covers. There is also a selection of Ethiopia, additional South and Central America, Asia and rest of the world. This auction concludes with 100+ large lots and collections, which range from single country collections to multi-carton worldwide groups of stamps and covers

1853 4rs brown, plate I, "Thiele II" printing, horizontal strip of six, margins all around to just touching at left, on cover to Schleswig, tied by "31" numeral cancels, with cds alongside, cover slightly reduced at left, with pressed out creases and filing fold through left stamp, fine-v.f. and the largest known example of this printing, with 1970 Gronlund cert., ex-Scott (Facit 2III)

1858 4s yellow brown, privately perforated 9 1/2, used in combination with imperf. 4s on FL from Oldenburg to Rendsburg, tied by "127" numeral cancels, with "Oldenburg 28.2.1861" (Oldenburg was one of only two towns where merchants privately perforated stamps for their convenience) cds, arrival postmarks on reverse, filing fold through stamps (not mentioned on cert.), otherwise fine and exceedingly rare combination franking, with 1999 Nielsen cert. (Facit 7v7)

1863 4s brown, rouletted, plate VII, block of eight (pos. 21-24/31-34) on FL from Aalborg to Copenhagen, tied by "4" numeral cancels, with Aalborg cds at lower left, Copenhagen arrival on reverse, corner crease affecting top right stamp and cover partially cut vertically, still fine-v.f. Stated to be the largest known multiple on cover, with 1988 Dr. Debo cert., ex-Christian Andersen and Gene Scott collections
