James R. Simon Collection

The James R. Simon collection is comprised of over 600 volumes, well researched by a historian and student of philately of very diverse areas, starting with Afghanistan and Albania, continuing with extensive Austro-Hungarian Empire, impressive Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Montenegro and Yugoslavia, as well as Croatia, Fiume and Trieste. There are specialized collections of Honduras, Liberia, Poland, Russia and Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia and many others. Most of the collections are offered intact and include United States & Possessions, Independent Asia, Benelux and British Commonwealth, Canada, Croatia, Cuba, Germany, Greece, Italy and Italian Colonies, as well as South and Central America, Japan, Korea, Portugal and Colonies, Turkey, Uruguay and many others. Many of the collections are highly specialized and viewing is recommended, either in person (by appointment prior to the sale) or here on our website, where additional scans are added continuously.

1849-1970 collection in a large Scott Specialty album, starting with Belgium used and unused Medallions, imperf. and perf., 1866-83 Leopold, many unused, values to 5fr, Coat of Arms and coupon sets complete, 1912-19 King Albert complete sets to 10fr, also Helmet and rest of the issues, Semi-Postals complete, with Red Cross, 1928 Orval Abbey perforated and Special overprints (COB Euro 995), also 1929 Crown overprints (Scott $650), Cardinal Mercier and overprinted "Braine-L'Alleud" five high values (COB Euro 2,150), 1933 Orval and complete from there, with all the souvenir sheets, some special issues (reduced size, marginal overprints), Parcel Post, with many early items, complete from 1935 (Q184-207, etc.). Luxembourg, some 19th Century, 1920s-to-date (missing only the Intellectuals set), with Postage Dues and some Officials. Netherlands, with occasional 19th Century, 5gld Wilhelmina (54, $700), mostly complete unused from 1923 with Ascension (124-34, $425), various sets to 5gld, Syncopated Perfs, Semi-Postals, few Postage Dues and Officials, occasional flaws noted, generally l.h. or h.r., fresh and fine-v.f.
