GREAT BRITAIN Officials
1840 1p black, "V.R." Official, unused without gum, margins all around, fresh color and sharp impression, v.f. example of this world-class rarity, with 1975 BPA certificate (while 3,323 sheets were prepared for use, the idea of special "Official" stamps was abandoned and all but 21 sheets were destroyed. Of those, 13 sheets were used for experiments with obliterator cancels, but a few managed to make it through the post) (SG V1)
