BRITISH COMMONWEALTH Canadian Expeditionary Force in Siberia
1919 (22 Feb) Canadian YMCA corner cachet "On Active Service" cover to Ottawa, with "Orderly Room 259th Bn Can. Rifles (Siberia)" dated cachet, also a fine strike of the "Field Post Office Canadian Siberian Expeditionary Force" Feb 26 cancel, below, fine cover from a member of the small Canadian contingent in Siberia (the 259th Battalion, Canadian Rifles, was an infantry battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force Siberia, embarked for Russia on 22 and 26 December 1918, disembarked at Vladivostok on 12 and 15 January 1919 serving with the 16th Infantry Brigade as part of the Allied Forces in eastern Russia until 19 May 1919. The 259th Battalion recruited in London and Kingston, Ontario, also in Montreal and Quebec City. It was commanded by Lt.Col. A.E. Swift)
