1864 cover endorsed "from U.S.Steamer Saranac Pacific Squadron," addressed to Philadelphia, with "Steamship 10" payment at upper right, some toning, otherwise fine. USS Saranac was a sloop of war of the United States Navy. She was commissioned in 1850 and saw service protecting American interests in the Atlantic Ocean as well as the Pacific Ocean.
