 | Lot #2153 RUSSIA - ZEMSTVO URZHUM 1893 (21 Feb) registered combination cover from Sernur village to Revel, franked on back with local 3k green and diagonal bisect of 2k blue (to meet the 4k rate, which was in effect from 1892 to 1912), tied by oval "Urzhumskaya Zemskaya Pochta" datestamp, sent via the Imperial Post Office, with pair of 7k added on front, tied by Urzhum (24 Feb) cds, arriving on 6th March in Revel, vertical filing fold through the stamps, otherwise fine and exceptionally rare cover. Due to a shortage of 4 kopeck adhesives, postmaster in Urzhum, made up the required franking by bisecting his surplus 2 kopeck stamps.
