1861 5c buff, two singles, bottom stamp with natural straight edge at left, overlapped and tied by "Paid" cancel on 1862 FL from Boston, endorsed "via Marseille and Bombay" to Calcutta, with "Boston.BR.PKT.Feb 5", London and Bombay transits, "Ship Letter Calcutta" arrival (May 19) pmks on reverse; small handstamp "St. Bg/ As 13" (Steamer Bearing) on front. The 10c franking paid double rate transit to England, with 1sh 7pence charged in London, routed not via Marseilles, but through Southampton by an East India Company Steamer via Malta, Alexandria, overland to Suez through Aden to Bombay, charged "13" (Annas) and additional "9" (Annas) in ms, stamps with minor flaws, otherwise fine, with 1991 Rendon and 2000 Van der Linden certificates
