THE ALEXANDER COLLECTION - POLAND
1858 Russia 10k brown & blue (1), margins all around, tied by "175" in rings over "1" (the original cancel was lightened and stamp was re-used), with red "Granica 14.7" cds at upper right, on outer FL to Warsaw, with red "Warszawa 16/7" and "9/R" (9:00 A.M.) arrival pmks on back. The Warsaw-Vienna railway section terminated at the Polish frontier, where a border post office was established to process transiting mail. Letters passing through this post office either to or from Warsaw received the "Granica" (border) circular postmark with two-line date, without indication of year.
