1862 10c Vittorio Emanuele II, the scarce "oliva chiaro" shade (clear olive), well centered ("perfetto e ben centrato"), never hinged (!) and post office fresh, a scarce shade in premium condition, with 1998 Colla cert. (catalogue value for a hinged example, average centering. For illustration purposes, we note that Sass. No. 1 catalogues Euro 5,500 for an ordinary hinged example and Euro 24,750 for unhinged, well centered copy)

1928 Emanuele Filiberto 30c green & brown, center inverted, unused with full original gum, better than usual centering, fine example of this rarity. Only one sheet of these inverts was sold at the post office in Bologna. The buyer did not notice the error and placed the majority of the stamps on a large parcel. Most of the stamps were thus used. Of the few unused examples known, only two (!) exist with full original gum and both are offered in this auction (see footnote in Sassone where the price is listed for one of the two values with gum), signed Emilio Diena, Oliva, Raybaudi, Sorani, etc. (Sass. 228a)
