1852 (1 January) outer folded letter to the firm of Rothschild & Sons in Naples, franked with 5b black on rose, top sheet margin single tied by neat double circle Roma 1 Gen 1852 postmark (First Day of Issue), with oval firm cachet (Antonio Serani) alongside, filings fold in middle and at top of the letter, just along the upper margin of the stamp only, with red 3 January arrival pmk on back, and in oval on front. A very fine and exquisite rarity from Papal States, a classic First Day Cover, signed Enzo Diena, with 1994 Diena cert. (Sass. 6; catalogue value given as a range between Euro 75,000-100,000)
