GERMAN WORLD WAR II OCCUPATION ISSUES American Propaganda Issues for Germany
1944 The Hitler "Death's head" stamps, souvenir sheet of four, perforated 8, without denomination, inscribed "Deutsches Reich 1944" and "Wer Ein Volk Retten Will Kann Nur Heroisch Denken" at bottom (a parody of the 1937 sheetlet issued by Germany to mark Hitler's 48th birthday), vertical uncut pair in brown violet, never hinged, with slight paper clip indentation at top (perhaps originally attached to a printing order), fingerprints and tiny adhesions, otherwise very fine, with September 2009 Krischke certificate confirming that while only three single sheetlets are known, this is the absolutely unique complete sheet ("Druckbogen ?") and without question the most important rarity of the World War II Propaganda issues. Michel catalogue value is for two single sheetlets (illustrated on the outside back cover)
