1811 (Nov 11) FL from Boston to France, stating "the New Orleans Packet was captured near this place 40 days out and sent to Halifax... not a single government vessel has sailed since I have been here." During the War of 1812, over 1,000 vessels were used in blockading American Ports. This letter arrived in Italy, with "116/Civitavecchia" French Departmental hs in black, disinfection baking & slits, rare item from the War of 1812
