ARMENIA Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic Semi-Postals
1929 In 1929, the Soviet Armenian Post Office overprinted stamps to aid abandoned children. A total of 4,313 were prepared to be sold in Yerevan Post Office on April 23,24 and 25, 1929. The stamps arrived at the Post Office only on April 25 and only 458 were sold, with balance turned over to the Armenian State Museum. Very few of these stamps still exist and little is known about them, hence they have been omitted from catalogues. This cover with pre-printed tri-lingual "Comite des secours d'Armenie" is franked with three Soviet stamps handstamped in violet ("Help Abandoned Children 23-25.IV.1925") and was sent on 25th April to the venerable firm of Vahan Mozian in New York City. On reverse, there is a handstamp of the Central Administration of HOK, Hayastani Komideh Armenian Relief Yerevan, cover with filing folds, creases and minor faults, of no importance considering its rarity
