| Lot #550 United States Flight Covers 1933 Settle-Fordney Stratospheric balloon flight, cacheted cover postmarked Lakehurst (Nov.20), light gum flap toning, still v.f., Lt.Comdr "Tex" Settle and Maj. Chester Fordney flew a 600,000 cubic foot U.S. Navy balloon, setting theworld's altitude record of 61,237 feet. The previous record was set a month earlier by the Soviets.
